1 Star Great product…until it cracks your Kindle
We purchased our Kindle last spring before an extended trip, and three family members shared reading it at various times over the summer. We all liked the cover–the leather gave it a luxurious feel, and we felt like the Kindle was well protected, especially when our 12 year old was reading. A couple weeks ago I had the Kindle out to read, set it down on the bed to do something else, and when I came back awhile later, I was ready to start yelling at the kids. I was sure one of them had dropped it because I could see a visible crack in the white plastic frame on the lower left side of the Kindle. However, after closer examination, I realized the crack was being caused by the pressure of the lower hinge of the cover pushing upward. I quickly released the Kindle from the jacket and the plastic settled so the crack was difficult to see. Looking more carefully at the jacket construction, I understand why this happened. The metal hinges that catch the Kindle are extremely rigid and bent upwards. I wondered at first if we had bent the hinges slightly through use, but that metal would require a pair of pliers and quite a bit of force to bend it. I tried later to put the Kindle back in the jacket, thinking maybe it was just positioned incorrectly, but the crack was immediately visible and I was afraid it would completely ruin the Kindle if I left it. I’m left to conclude that this product is faulty, and now I have a cracked $[...] piece of electronic equipment and a $[...] of leather for which I have no use. I see on a previous review that Amazon has refused to honor warranty provisions. We bought the extended warranty, and haven’t yet pursued our options for return/replacement of the cover and/or Kindle. I’m not optimistic, though.

i ordered this with the m-edge latitude jacket (lime green color)…this product is great in craftmanship…the quality is really good and i was thinking of switching between this and the latitude (you know like when you feel like going from casual to formal) but i didn’t like the color…i was expecting a darker shade of mocha but it’s lighter than i expected…but it’s really a great product all in all
5 Stars Perfect Weight for Me
After reading the many reviews how the clips on the Amazon black leather cover cause stress fractures on the front of the Kindle, I called Amazon and canceled my order and ordered this cover. Glad I did. I did not want a product that is supposed to protect my Kindle to actually ruin it. There is much ado on the Kindle site about the light weight of the reading device. For me, the Kindle is too light and this cover creates a “book” style reading experience. The cover is compact and sturdy and is more like reading a small leather bound book. Love the M-Edge Prodigy cover. The folio style pockets (on the left side when the cover is open) provide the perfect place to securely keep boarding passes. Very happy with the craftsmanship. I ordered Mocha Brown after reading other reviewers comment on the richness of the color – well – not so rich – but it does look like the color on the monitor. I would have liked to order black, but black has a way of disappearing on the black carpet in the car. Some reviewers mention no instructions – my cover included a nicely laminated card with detailed illustrations on how to install the Kindle. Buy this cover!
1 Star Damages Kindle Devices
I purchased this product, along with my Kindle, in June of this year. For the first few months I loved the quality of this product and would have given it a 5 star review. By the end of September it had damaged my Kindle and caused a large crack on the front white cover. The product has been used daily but not heavily and has not been mishandled. Both the Kindle and the cover is being replaced (presumably, if others are having difficulty getting replacements, because I bought extended 2-year warranty). As the extended warranty only covers “accidental damage” one time, and the product life with this cover appears to be under 6 months I am not going to risk using the cover again but will instead be purchasing a cover without a hinge.
If you are using this cover and believe (as I did when I read the other reviews) that the problem with cracks will only affect people who don’t look after their possessions, my only recommendation is to not use the cover from the moment a crack starts to appear as the bent hinge will continue to stress the Kindle and make the damage worse.
1 Star Horrible Product that Will Damage Kindle over Long Term
I received this cover and the Kindle in May 2009 as a gift. Loved the attractiveness and quality of the cover at first. I’ve used the Kindle in the M-Edge cover daily since May. Now, in early September, the metal hinges in the cover have stressed the front of the Kindle damaging the white plastic framing. The framing is visibly cracked exactly where the hinges meet the Kindle. Amazon refuses to honor the 1-year warranty on the Kindle despite the fact that both the device and the cover were purchased through them. This device is worth the expense only when the warranty on quality is honored. Don’t waste your money on the M-Edge Cover.

3 Stars Just Doesn’t Feel Safe
One of the bonuses of the Kindle is its small size but I seem to be adding weight and heft to it with different kinds of covers. I have the M-Edge leather cover and it protects well, but is rather bulky.
This cover, when used with the screen protection film, protects everything but the keyboard without adding any bulk. But, because the keyboard is exposed, it doesn’t seem like a good idea to throw the Kindle into a bag with other items.
For simple reading around the house when security isn’t a problem, the cover really allows one to enjoy the small size of the Kindle. This cover provides a good gripping surface and, therefore, the Kindle does not slip from ones hands.
However, for evening reading, there is no place to attach a light, so another cover must be used.
There are holes cut out for the buttons or the cover is thinner over them so they are still functional.
The cover can be easily removed so another cover can be used when needed. I’ve had silicone covers for other products, an iPod for one, that were difficult to remove.

I bought the semi-clear one (Clear Semi-transparent Amazon Kindle 2 E-Book Reader Silicone Rubber Skin Case + FREE Kindle2 Anti Scratch LCD Screen Protector) for my cousin and I found the texture is really good so I bought a purple one for myself.
I LOVE IT! It’s a bit thinner at the button areas so it’s easier to press and I can still see the prints there. It doesn’t cover the cable ports so I don’t have to remove it when I transfer data. Good price and good quality, the free screen protector makes the protection completed.
1 Star Worst Electronic Skin I have Ever Used
I purchased this skin shortly after I purchased my Kindle (about 3 months ago). When I tried to put the screen protector on, it did not work, I have never had this problem with one before as I have put them on my iPod as well as my Nintendo DS with no problems at all. When I put the skin on, it was as though the skin was made too small so the edges on the front would not lay flat, I kept it on and tried stretching it multiple times in hopes that it would stretch, but it has not so 2 months later I have purchased myself a new case for my Kindle that should be much better for it.

Bought this for my Kindle, as I wanted to protect the casing, but didn’t want anything too awkward or heavy. Works out really well, and love the color and feel of it. Of course, the screen protector is great, too. Good products for protecting your Kindle.

1 Star Chemical problem caused allergy attack
I recently ordered and received the M-Edge Prodigy Jacket for my Kindle but had to return it. The inside lining of the jacket, described by M-Edge as microfiber, had a strong chemical odor, and the fumes gave me a mild asthma attack. I have clothing that’s microfiber but haven’t had any problems before this with that fabric type. I’ve occasionally run into this problem before – it appears to be a chemical used in processing some types of materials manufactured in Asia.
I don’t know how common this reaction is, so just consider this a word of caution if you’re considering this product and you have any respiratory issues.

I love this cover. Provides protection for my kindle and is very stylish. Also has an inside pocket for notes. The kindle is expensive and this cover is worth the money.

I am really pleased with this jacket for my Kindle. It’s lightweight but durable and it is very nice-looking. I don’t think I would even have noticed that the leather is synthetic unless I had known before buying it. The color is lighter than shown in the picture but is a really pretty shade and I prefer it to the navy that is featured on the site. The only thing that I think could be a little better is that when the jacket is open, the hinge is pretty loose between the two covers so the front one waggles around a little. However, that’s a tiny detail and overall this is a great product!

I love my new kindle cover. It has the new hinge system and pockets on the inside and a clasp to keep it closed. I also like the pocket for the optional light.

3 Stars Great for travel, awful at home.
I agree with the other reviewers – the material is great, and the clasps fit the Kindle snugly in the case. However, there is way too much space to the left of the clasps (in between your Kindle and the Spine), and the more you use it, the more awkward it becomes.
I bought this in April, since I read my Kindle on the Subway and wanted something in case I drop it and so I can shove it in my bag or purse on the go. It is pretty good for this purpose, although the extra space does make it slightly awkward to hold. When I try to read in bed, the space becomes downright frustrating – I realized that it makes it nearly impossible to both grip the case/Kindle with your left hand and reach the “next page” button at the same time. I had unconsciously been using my right hand for this purpose whenever using this case, and been removing the cover each night when I didn’t have a day bag with a Kindle sleeve/pocket.
It is livable, but I’m on Amazon tonight because it became too frustrating and I replaced it. I finally figured out the MaxGuard case is just incorrectly listed as leather, and is indeed synthetic, so I’m hoping that I can finally toss this one out.
